From Christmas Day 2011, the Holidays Act provides for an extra public holiday to be added when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day falls on a weekend.

*** From 2012, the Queen’s Birthday holiday moves to the first weekend in October. In 2012, a special Queen’s Diamond Jubilee holiday will be celebrated on the current day – second Monday in June.

NOTE: The Holidays Act 1983 was amended to provide for the observance of two public holidays for Christmas Day on 25 and 28 December 2010 and for two public holidays for New Year's Day on 1 and 3 January 2011.

^ In recognition of Easter Monday and Anzac Day occurring on the same day in 2011, the Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations approved a substituted public holiday for Easter Monday on Tuesday, 26 April 2011.

** These public holidays are substituted in accordance with the provisions of the Holidays Act 1983.

# Royal National Agricultural (RNA) Show Day (Brisbane only) usually held on second Wednesday in August except when there are five Wednesdays in August it is held on third Wednesday.
